Sage Biscuits

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cold 1% low-fat milk
- 1/4 cup egg substitute
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup chilled unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 425.
- 2 in a small bowl, whisk together mlk and egg until blended.
- 3 set aside.
- 4 blend flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sage and black pepper in food processor.
- 5 add cold butter and pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal.
- 6 do not overmix.
- 7 add milk mixture and process just until moist clumps begin to form.
- 8 transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until dough holds together, about 6 kneads.
- 9 roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
- 10 cut out bisquits using a 2 inch biscuit or cookie cutter. place buscuits on large non stick baking sheet.
- 11 bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes.
