Sage And Onion Wheat Bread (bread Machine)

Total Time: 3 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 3 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 cup water, plus
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/3 cup onion, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups white bread flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons rubbed sage
  • 2 teaspoons yeast

Recipe

  • 1 add ingredients to machine as per manufacturers recommendations.
  • 2 about 10 minutes after the machine has begun to knead the dough, check consistency.
  • 3 dough should be starting to form a smooth round ball.
  • 4 when touched the dough should be slightly tacky to the touch; however no dough should remain on the finger.
  • 5 if dough is to dry, add 1 tbsp of water and allow machine to knead a few minutes before checking.
  • 6 if dough is to wet, add 1 tbsp of flour and again allow machine to knead a few minutes before checking.
  • 7 select the whole wheat cycle and allow the machine to do the rest.
  • 8 the 3 hour cook time is approximate, actual cook time will depend upon bread machine being used.
