Sage And Onion Wheat Bread (bread Machine)

Ingredients
- Servings: 12
- 1 cup water, plus
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/3 cup onion, coarsely chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 1/2 cups white bread flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 teaspoons rubbed sage
- 2 teaspoons yeast
Recipe
- 1 add ingredients to machine as per manufacturers recommendations.
- 2 about 10 minutes after the machine has begun to knead the dough, check consistency.
- 3 dough should be starting to form a smooth round ball.
- 4 when touched the dough should be slightly tacky to the touch; however no dough should remain on the finger.
- 5 if dough is to dry, add 1 tbsp of water and allow machine to knead a few minutes before checking.
- 6 if dough is to wet, add 1 tbsp of flour and again allow machine to knead a few minutes before checking.
- 7 select the whole wheat cycle and allow the machine to do the rest.
- 8 the 3 hour cook time is approximate, actual cook time will depend upon bread machine being used.
