Ground-cherries Poached

Ingredients

  • Servings: 5
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 small lemons
  • 1 1/2 pints golden ground cherries

Recipe

  • 1 combine the sugar and water, bring to a boil, and boil 8 to 10 minutes.
  • 2 add the lemon and ground-cherries and cook 5 minutes, until the ground-cherries are just cooked through, about 12 minutes in all.
  • 3 cool the syrup.
