Memphis-style Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

- 1 (24 ounce) bottle ketchup
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons black pepper, freshly ground
- 2 teaspoons instant minced onion
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
Recipe
- 1 in a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, water, vinegar, both sugars, pepper, onion & mustard. bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- 2 reduce heat to low & simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- 3 add lemon juice & worcestershire sauce, then simmer for another 30 minutes.
- 4 remove from heat & let it cool, before pouring into an airtight container & refrigerate not longer than 3 weeks.
