Old Fashioned Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar, salt and milk in saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture almost boils.
  • 2 reduce to low.
  • 3 gradually stir about 1/2 cup of hot mil into the beaten eggs.
  • 4 add eggs to remaining hot mixture.
  • 5 cook over low heat, stirring constantly until slightly thickened, about 5 minute.
  • 6 remove from heat and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  • 7 combine whipping cream, vanilla and chilled mixture, stirring with a wire whisk to combine.
  • 8 pour into canister and churn.
