Never Fail Sponge

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup custard powder
  • vanilla essence (a splash)
  • 1/2 cup cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

Recipe

  • 1 beat eggs until creamy.
  • 2 add sugar gradually and beat until thick and creamy.
  • 3 add vanilla.
  • 4 sift all other ingredients together.
  • 5 add sifted ingredients gradually to mixture.
  • 6 bake in a moderate oven (180 degrees celcius) for 20-25 minutes.
