Hawaiian Beets

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 (16 ounce) cans whole beets, drained
  • 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained (reserve juice)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon light molasses
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 drain beets and pineapple separately; measure pineapple juice to make 1 cup (if needed add a little beet juice to make up any difference).
  • 2 combine juice, cornstarch, molasses and salt in pan; stir until lumps are gone.
  • 3 heat over medium heat until sauce thickens and is clear.
  • 4 add beets and heat until hot.
  • 5 just before serving, add pineapple; warm two or three minutes.
