Round Steak Cubes With Sauce

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 3 -4 lbs beef round steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons flour or 3 tablespoons rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or 2 tablespoons sweet ten liquid low-calorie sweetener
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon grams
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons minced prepared garlic
  • 3 -4 drops hot sauce, if desired see note at bottom

Recipe

  • 1 in covered dutch oven add oil oil.
  • 2 preheat oven to 325°f.
  • 3 cut off fat from round steaks, discard.
  • 4 cut in two inch long strips, then stack and cut in chunks.
  • 5 put in dutch oven. brown on top of burner, medium heat, turning a few times to coat and cook.
  • 6 note: split the sugar, between wet and dry ingredients.
  • 7 in mixing bowl add flour, sugar, salt, pepper, gram , dry mustard, all spice and celery seed.mix.
  • 8 in another mixing bowl, add liquid sugar substitute, tomato sauce, vinegar, garlic, and water. stir to blend.
  • 9 add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring.
  • 10 pour over browned meat.
  • 11 cover and cook in the oven about 2 hours may be necessary to add 1/4 cup water every hour.
  • 12 note: if you want to add hot sauce ie tabasco or other brand, add right before serving and stir.
